Exposed! ACF Not True Northerners – They’re Atiku’s Loyalists, Says Hassan

Hassan made the claim during an interview on Channels Television, in response to recent criticism from the ACF accusing President Bola Tinubu’s administration of neglecting Northern Nigeria.

Describing the Forum as a political pressure group rather than a neutral Northern body, Hassan said:
“These people in the ACF are the opposition. We challenged them during the tenure of late President Muhammadu Buhari, and we’ll do the same now.”

He argued that the ACF, rather than representing Northern interests, has become politically biased.
“These are Atiku’s men. I know many of them. Some disgruntled APC members have aligned themselves with ACF. It has always had a political undertone. They do not represent the North,” Hassan asserted.

Atiku Rejects Bill for New Political Parties Commission, Warns Against Wasteful Spending

Meanwhile, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has criticized a bill before the House of Representatives proposing the creation of a new Political Parties Registration and Regulation Commission (PPRRC).

The bill, co-sponsored by House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas and lawmaker Marcus Onobun, seeks to amend several sections of the Constitution to empower the PPRRC to register, regulate, and monitor political parties, including overseeing internal democracy, finances, and party primaries.

Atiku, through his media adviser Paul Ibe, argued on Tuesday that the establishment of another public institution would place an unnecessary financial burden on the country.

While acknowledging that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is currently overwhelmed with responsibilities, Atiku said, “The solution is not to create another costly agency. INEC is already overburdened, but we don’t need to replicate functions through a new commission.”

He instead proposed that existing agencies like the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) could be empowered to take on some of INEC’s duties, including party registration and monitoring.

“At a time like this, what Nigeria needs is a more effective and well-resourced INEC, not more bureaucracies,” Atiku added.
