Exposed! Peter Obi Breaks Silence, Reveals Secret Dealings With Sani Abacha
Amid circulating allegations of his supposed involvement with the regime of the late military ruler, General Sani Abacha, former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi has released documentation to clarify his role and set the record straight.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Obi’s response comes in light of growing commentary on social media and in political circles suggesting he had connections to the Abacha regime, which governed Nigeria from 1993 to 1998—a period widely criticized for corruption and human rights violations.
Former presidential aide Reno Omokri alleged that Obi, who later contested for Nigeria’s presidency under the Labour Party (LP), was engaged with the Abacha government through dealings at the Tincan Island Port in Lagos.
However, in a statement issued on Wednesday, Obi published official letters confirming his involvement—along with others—in a federal Taskforce aimed at decongesting the ports.
Obi emphasized that he had no prior relationship with General Abacha before that engagement. He explained that the meeting arose from his concerns as a trader and importer, alarmed by the excessive delays in clearing goods at Nigerian ports.
According to Obi, their engagement with the Abacha-led government was strictly a civic initiative, not a political move.
His statement reads:
“In line with my longstanding commitment to transparency and accountability, and in response to the spread of misinformation, I’m sharing this document that confirms my selection—alongside others—for the Taskforce on port decongestion.
“As I’ve consistently stated, I had never met General Sani Abacha prior to that meeting. Our request for an audience with him was based solely on collective concerns, as traders and importers, over port inefficiencies. We sought real, workable solutions—not political favor.”
He continued:
“Our goal was simple: advocate for reforms and restore effective port operations for the benefit of businesses and the wider Nigerian economy.
“This clarification is made in the interest of truth and civic responsibility. While I don’t expect this evidence to silence those with ulterior motives, I present it for the record and in fulfillment of my pledge to remain transparent with the Nigerian public on any matter involving me.”
