and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) should not be selected from the same geopolitical zone.
He argued that appointing leaders of these two federal anti-corruption agencies from the same region contradicts the federal character principle.
Given that the current EFCC chairman hails from the northern region, Falana suggested that the ICPC chairman should come from the southern region.
Falana expressed, “If you are going to have the EFCC and the ICPC, the heads cannot come from the same zone.”
The senior lawyer also praised the qualifications of the EFCC chairman, Ola Olukoyede, who he described as “eminently qualified” for the role, citing Olukoyede’s extensive experience.
including serving as Chief of Staff to the EFCC Chairman from 2016 to 2018 and as Secretary to the Commission from 2018 to 2023, with a total of 22 years of relevant experience.
