FCT Director Under Fire For Alleged Violations By Anti-Corruption Group

The NGO asserted that Idris failed to disclose his ownership of certain companies to the Code of Conduct Bureau, as required by law.

As a result, they called on Wike to suspend Idris while the allegations are investigated.

They maintained that a public official should avoid situations where their personal interests conflict with their duties and obligations.

The group warned that they would pursue legal action if the authorities do not investigate Idris.

The statement read in part, “NACAT’s investigation uncovered that Onsachi Musa Idris, the Executive Director of Procurement at the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), and some of his associates have interests as directors in companies.

‘Hollywood Films, Television, and Creative Arts Institute Limited’ (RC 1280962 – registered on August 14, 2015) and ‘El-Meela Heritage International School Limited’ (RC 1282658 – registered on August 24, 2015).

However, he failed to declare these interests in his Assets and Liabilities Declaration Forms submitted to the Code of Conduct Bureau, as mandated by the law.

“A public official must avoid situations where their personal interests conflict with their official duties and responsibilities.

By not disclosing his association with these companies, we believe that Mr. Idris may have wielded his influence to manipulate procurement procedures and processes, thereby unduly favoring these companies in contract awards and disadvantaging other eligible businesses in a fair competition.

The group also threatened legal action if the appropriate authorities fail to investigate Mr. Idris for the alleged transgression.

“As an NGO with a mandate to combat corruption and a record of involvement in various anti-corruption efforts, we are concerned that such an official has been allowed to remain in his position without a thorough investigation and appropriate punitive actions taken against him.

This is why we are urging the relevant agencies to initiate a formal investigation into this director.”

“NACAT specifically called on the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, to promptly suspend Idris from his role while the allegations are probed to prevent the concealment of pertinent information related to the case.”
