The minister emphasized that the outstanding N900 million would not suffice to complete the remaining work, and he expressed his firm opposition to further variations in the contract sum.

He also criticized the wide-ranging contract sums within the FCDA, ranging from N10 billion to N120 billion, N50 billion to N200 billion, describing them as alarming and unacceptable.

Regarding the Lower Usuma Dam project, Wike questioned why it was still pending more than a year after being awarded as an emergency contract in August 2022.

He indicated that the project’s urgency was no longer justified, and the procurement process would be overhauled to ensure transparency and efficiency.

Wike also mentioned that his administration had identified approximately ten contracts for review and had initiated discussions with the respective companies involved.
