FCT Police Drops Bombshell: Stop Giving Our Officers Bribes, It’s Fueling Corruption

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has warned residents against giving money or any form of inducement to its officers while on duty, stressing that such practices are illegal and undermine the integrity of the Force.

In a statement shared via its official handle on Sunday, September 7, 2025, the Command reminded the public that police officers are expected to perform their duties without external influence.

“It is unlawful to offer our officers money or inducements while they are on duty. Allow them to carry out their responsibilities diligently and without interference,” the statement read.

The Command reassured Abuja residents of its commitment to professionalism, transparency, and accountability in policing, while urging citizens to work hand-in-hand with officers to ensure a safer and more secure capital city.

It further encouraged members of the public to report any misconduct by its personnel through the Complaint Response Unit (CRU) at 08107314192 or the FCT Command’s emergency line, 08032003913.

Meanwhile, the Command has opened an investigation into the suspected suicide of a 30-year-old man, identified as Ik Ojo, who was found dead in his residence at Kagini, Dei-Dei, Abuja.

Police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, disclosed that the incident occurred on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, following a distress call. Officers from the Dei-Dei Division arrived at the scene and evacuated the victim to Kubwa General Hospital, where he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor. His body has since been deposited in the hospital mortuary for autopsy.

The Commissioner of Police has directed a discreet investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death, with further updates to be provided as inquiries progress.
