The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has strongly refuted recent claims by the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, suggesting that the party’s national leader, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, is planning to defect to the ruling party.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In an interview with Punch, NNPP’s National Publicity Secretary, Ladipo Johnson, made it clear that Kwankwaso has no intention of joining the APC, emphasizing that his focus remains firmly on rebuilding and strengthening the NNPP.

Ganduje had earlier sparked reactions while addressing members of the Tinubu Support Group at the APC national headquarters in Abuja. During his remarks, the former Kano governor declared that the NNPP was “dead” and boldly claimed that Kwankwaso was on his way back to the APC.

“The coffin has already been constructed. What remains now is to dig the grave. Kwankwaso wants to come back, and we will welcome him,” Ganduje said.

In response, Johnson dismissed Ganduje’s comments as both “baseless” and a reflection of “panic,” asserting that Kwankwaso is deeply engaged in strategic consultations with Nigerians across various sectors to reposition the NNPP ahead of the 2027 elections.

He added, “Ganduje’s remarks are inconsequential. He’s clearly in panic mode because he knows that Kwankwaso brings far more political value and relevance to the table than he ever could.”
