Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima shared this uplifting information at the 2nd Extended National MSME Clinics held at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta, emphasizing the clinic’s role as a crucial link between the government and the people. He highlighted the clinics’ significance as vital support systems for enterprises, both in Ogun State and across the nation.

Senator Shettima reiterated the commitment to bringing government agencies closer to the people, streamlining the regulatory process by consolidating them under one umbrella. Expressing gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, he revealed the President’s directive to grant almost 200 new applications within the market free of charge for a year, with each recipient enjoying a N100,000 grant.

Acknowledging Ogun State as an industrial powerhouse and a strong supporter of federal government initiatives, Senator Shettima emphasized the government’s dedication to fulfilling promises across various sectors. He stated that the Expanded SMSME Clinics’ 2nd phase, initiated in Benue State earlier in the year, aims to fortify the foundation of small businesses.

The Vice President stressed the clinics’ role as a lifeline for enterprises, offering immediate financial support to exhibitors and facilitating swift registration with the Corporate Affairs Commission. He thanked Ogun State and Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun for their support in restoring the nation’s economy.

Governor Abiodun highlighted his administration’s Small and Medium Enterprises Industrial Land Acquisition Scheme (SILAS), a 1,000-hectare industrial hub with essential amenities. He outlined incentives for SMEs, including industrial ownership benefits, accelerated processing of Certificates of Occupancy, and rebates on taxes and levies.

To contribute to the federal government’s economic repositioning, Governor Abiodun announced incentives such as conditional grants of N100,000 to 10,000 MSMSEs, N500,000 to 2,000 SMEs, and N50,000 to 5,000 market women in the State.

Mr. Tola Adekunle Johnson, Special Adviser to the Vice President on Small and Medium Enterprises, acknowledged the collaborative efforts between federal and state governments. He emphasized job creation through the clinics, with Ogun and Benue being the initial beneficiaries.

In his welcome address, Mr. Adebola Sofela, the state Commissioner for Industry, Trade, and Investment, emphasized the clinics’ purpose: addressing challenges faced by small and medium enterprises in the state and finding effective solutions.
