Represented by his special adviser, Aisha Bello, Sule highlighted the longstanding relationship between Nigeria and China, spanning over fifty years. He assured that the ministry is dedicated to nurturing and enhancing this relationship.

Sule extended appreciation to the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria for its consistent support to both the country and the ministry. He conveyed congratulations to the People’s Republic of China, the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria, and the entire Chinese community in Nigeria on the occasion of the 2024 Chinese Temple Fair, also known as the spring festival.

Otunba Olusegun Runsewe, the President of the World Crafts Council (African Region), acknowledged the significant impact of Chinese human capital development programs on Nigeria’s cultural sector. Runsewe emphasized the strong cultural partnership that has evolved between both countries over the years. He suggested that Nigeria, with its rich heritage sites, could develop them similarly to the Chinese Temple Fair for recreational, religious, and commercial purposes.

Runsewe noted that Nigeria possesses a wealth of arts, crafts, and cultural products, with some historical sites recognized as world heritage sites by UNESCO. He underscored the similarities between China and Nigeria, both being culturally diverse nations, and stressed the need to strengthen cultural ties to benefit from China’s cultural expertise.

While recognizing the cultural exchange potential between the two countries, Runsewe congratulated the Chinese cultural center for hosting the Chinese New Year and expressed his commitment to building on the existing partnership for mutual benefit.

In his opening remarks, Cui Jianchun, the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, highlighted the significance of the 2024 New Year Temple Fair, representing the Year of the Dragon, which symbolizes development, revitalization of the Chinese economy post-COVID-19, assistance, guidance, opportunity, and nationalism. He emphasized the shared commitment of both countries to development, mutual support, and the building of a community with a shared future.
