Speaking during a recent Instagram livestream, Seun rejected allegations that Fela was responsible for infecting the women in his life, instead describing him as the one affected.

He explained that Fela maintained an unconventional lifestyle in which he did not restrict his wives from being involved with other men. According to Seun, this approach was one of his father’s major missteps.

He recounted reacting to a video where a woman criticised Fela’s legacy, accusing him of spreading HIV. In response, Seun said he felt compelled to clarify what he believes is a misunderstanding about his father.

Seun added that Fela believed in mutual freedom within his relationships—just as he had relationships with multiple women, he allowed them the same liberty, with the only condition that such relationships did not take place in his home.

He further claimed that because Fela did not go outside his home to be with other women, it was one of his partners who may have brought the infection into his household.

Despite acknowledging his father’s flaws, Seun emphasized that no one is perfect and maintained that Fela stood for humanity and progressive ideals.
