FBN Holdings Plc has undergone significant changes to its board of directors, with the appointment of five new executives coinciding with the assumption of office by its chairman, billionaire Femi Otedola.

Otedola, former chairman of Forte Oil PLC, was announced as the new chairman of the apex bank in January, according to reports by Naija News.

The confirmation of Otedola’s appointment came through a corporate filing on the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX), signaling the beginning of a new era for the financial institution.

In a subsequent update to the Nigerian Exchange Group, Adewale Arogundade, the company’s Secretary, disclosed the appointment of Olusola Adeeyo and Viswanathan Shankar as non-executive directors, with Shankar serving as an independent non-executive director for FBN Holdings.

Furthermore, Remilekan Odunlami has been appointed as a non-executive director for First Bank, while Anil Dua and Fatima Ali have been named independent non-executive directors for the bank.

It’s worth noting that these appointments are subject to approval from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), as reported by Naija News.

Otedola, who also chairs Geregu Power, takes over from Ahmad Abdullahi as the chairman of FBN Holdings, marking a significant transition for the company.

Forbes recently ranked Otedola as the 20th richest African, with a fortune estimated at $1.1 billion, underscoring his stature in the business world.

According to the company, Otedola initially joined the Board of FBN Holdings Plc on August 15, 2023, as a Non-Executive Director, before assuming the role of chairman.

These changes signify a strategic realignment within FBN Holdings, aimed at steering the institution towards continued growth and success in the dynamic financial landscape.
