The meeting, held at the 3 Division headquarters in Bassa Local Government Area, highlighted the negative consequences of dividing communities along ethnic or religious lines, a stance the minister firmly rejected. He stressed the need for harmonious coexistence among all residents.

Badaru acknowledged the recent violent incidents in Barkin Ladi and Riyom LGAs, which resulted in loss of life and property. He pledged to deploy necessary resources to enhance the safety and security of citizens. He called on both farmers and herders to renounce violence and work towards peace, recognizing their mutual dependence for socio-economic development.

The minister commended security personnel for their efforts and conveyed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s appreciation for their service. He emphasized that his visit aimed to engage with key stakeholders to develop strategies for addressing security concerns, including farm destruction and cattle rustling.

“My presence here today fulfills my mandate as the Minister of Defence, responsible for protecting our national territory from internal and external threats,” Badaru stated. He expressed discontent over the recurring attacks that have led to casualties and property loss, particularly in recent incidents in Jol and Sho.

He also addressed the actions of certain community members disrupting farming activities during the rainy season, noting the need for cooperation to prevent further clashes. Badaru underscored the interconnectedness of farmers and herders, emphasizing that both groups are essential for survival.

Earlier, he assured senior officers of the President’s support and urged them to continue their efforts to resolve the ongoing crisis in Plateau State.
