In a bid to enhance food production and effectively address the rising food prices in the country, the Federal Government (FG) is launching a new initiative to distribute high-yield seedlings for dry season cropping. Mr. Mohammed Manga, Director of Information and Public Relations at the Ministry of Finance, stated that Edun emphasized the initiative’s goal to “revolutionize Nigeria’s agricultural sector, in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.”

The meeting aimed to accelerate the implementation of the National Agricultural Growth Scheme – Agro-Pocket (NAGS-AP), with discussions focusing on strategies to drive immediate results. The Minister underscored the importance of establishing an efficient input system for the dry season, highlighting the critical role of high-quality, adaptable seeds in achieving optimal yields.

The NAGS-AP team provided comprehensive updates on their implementation strategies and presented a finalized work plan for the 2024/2025 dry season. This initiative is designed to stimulate increased productivity and higher yields among farmers, significantly impacting food production and agricultural growth across the nation.

The program aims to transform Nigeria’s agricultural landscape, marking a significant step towards ensuring food security and economic growth in line with the current administration’s policy objectives.
