The PDP candidate asserted that the election, which saw Abiodun declared the winner, did not adhere to the stipulations of the Electoral Act.

Additionally, he alleged widespread irregularities and corrupt practices, contending that more than 40,000 voters were disenfranchised due to violent incidents.

In his plea to the appellate court, Adebutu sought the annulment of Governor Abiodun’s election, urging the court to declare him the rightful winner of the gubernatorial contest.

However, the tribunal, presided over by Hamidu Kunaza, dismissed Adebutu’s petition, citing a lack of merit in his claims.

Undeterred, Adebutu took the matter to the Appeal Court, where he aims to overturn the tribunal’s decision.

Both parties have relocated from Ogun State to witness the legal proceedings taking place in Lagos State.
