The incident occurred shortly after workers returned for the day and was caused by a spark from a faulty circuit breaker on the ground floor. Mohammed A. Ahmed, the Director of Press and Public Relations for the Ministry, confirmed that the incident was minor. “A fire occurred at 11:30 am at Block A of the Ministry, resulting from a spark in the electrical control room,” he stated.

Mr. Kekai Bekebi, the Station Commander of the Federal Fire Service at the Ministry, reported a prompt response from his team, who used fire extinguishers to control the situation. He also noted that a successful evacuation of staff was carried out.

Mr. Aliyu Abdullahi, the Director of Human Resource Management, added that there were no injuries, casualties, or loss of documents, and commended the staff for their conduct during the incident.

Normal operations have since resumed, with maintenance staff cleaning up debris and restoring the area.
