Consequently, flight operations at these crucial airports have been severely disrupted, leaving airlines and passengers stranded at the entrances.This development follows swiftly after Aviation unions instructed their members to cease services across Nigerian airports, a directive issued just 24 hours earlier.The decision to strike was reached during an emergency meeting convened by the unions on Sunday, highlighting the urgency of their demands.
The nationwide strike, announced by organized labor on Friday, was triggered by the Federal Government’s reluctance to raise the proposed minimum wage beyond N60,000. President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Joe Ajaero, declared the strike would commence at midnight on Sunday, June 2, 2024.
