Former APC Leader In Edo Labels Obaseki-Deputy Rift As Karma For Betraying Oshiomhole

Samson Osagie, a prominent figure within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State and a former Minority Whip of the House of Representatives, has asserted that the ongoing feud between Governor Godwin Obaseki and his deputy, Shaibu Philips, is a form of poetic justice for their past betrayal of former governor Adams Oshiomhole…CONTINUE READING....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In an interview with PUNCH, Osagie expressed his belief that the conflict between the top leaders in Edo State was foreseeable, given their history.
According to Osagie, Obaseki and Shaibu’s actions were driven by self-serving ambitions, arrogance, and an insatiable thirst for power. They chose to betray Oshiomhole, assuming that their actions would lead to a smooth political journey for them.
He stated, “You may call it drama; I will call it karma. As far as I’m concerned, what is happening between the first two citizens of Edo State is not unexpected.
I expected they would come to this level of launching a war against one another because they were men driven by selfish ambition, arrogance, and unbridled power-mongering. I knew from day one that their team would not have it smooth.”
Osagie further highlighted their treatment of the former governor, Oshiomhole, as evidence of their disloyalty and lack of humility.
He suggested that when individuals in public office become disloyal and arrogant, they are destined to encounter such crises. In his view, it’s a form of karma at play.
Regarding speculations that Shaibu’s rift with Obaseki is rooted in his gubernatorial aspirations, Osagie pointed out that there is no legal prohibition against a deputy governor aspiring to become a governor.
