Former Lawmaker Accuses Kalu And Ogah Of Plotting To Sabotage Abia APC

Chukwu Chijioke, the former representative of Bende North Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, has criticized Senator Orji Uzor Kalu and former Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Uchechukwu Ogah, for exacerbating the leadership crisis within the Abia chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Chijioke’s remarks follow Senator Kalu’s recent statement cautioning against the creation of factions within the APC in Abia State.

According to Chijioke, there is no faction within the Abia APC, and only the state chairman of the party has the authority to convene APC meetings.

Kalu’s comments were prompted by a gathering of Abia APC stakeholders organized by the factional leadership aligned with Ogah, held over the weekend in Umuahia.

In a statement aimed at Kalu, Chijioke accused both him and Ogah of undermining the party’s unity in the lead-up to the 2023 elections in Abia State.

He expressed surprise that it took the intervention of the National Executive Committee (NEC) for Kalu to acknowledge the state party chairman, despite it being common knowledge. Chijioke further criticized Kalu for his alleged role in the party’s poor performance in the 2023 elections, even failing to win his own polling unit.

Chijioke accused Kalu of collaborating with Ogah to take legal action against sitting members of the party, leading to further disunity and damage to the party’s electoral prospects.

He concluded by urging Kalu to seek repentance and restitution if he has indeed changed his ways, expressing a desire for reconciliation within the party despite their differences.
