Assistant Commissioner of Police and police spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi, revealed that Ahmed Mohammed had a brief tenure of five years in the Air Force before facing a court-martial for an undisclosed offense, leading to his dismissal. Adejobi further elaborated that the dismissed officer had been actively involved in providing military camouflage and other gear to criminal elements operating in Zamfara State.
Adejobi explained that the suspect initiated the trade of military camouflage and related equipment, introducing Mushiri Abubakar to the illicit enterprise. Abubakar, in turn, distributed these items to various criminal factions. Notably, the duo had previously supplied military camouflage uniforms to the infamous bandit, Bello Turji, and his associates, who have been responsible for widespread chaos in the state.
During the arrest, law enforcement recovered 10 sets of military camouflage uniforms and 10 camel packs from both Mohammed and Abubakar. Additionally, 2 military hats, 3 cardigans, 3 T-shirts, 2 belts, and 3 anklets were seized. The suspects were intercepted while transporting these items from Kaduna to Zamfara for use by bandits.
