Zwingina earned national recognition as the Director-General of the ‘Hope ’93’ presidential campaign, which backed the late Chief Moshood Abiola under the banner of the Social Democratic Party (SDP). In addition to his role in the June 12 election, Zwingina was a dedicated public servant. He represented Adamawa Southern Senatorial District as a Senator, where he was among the founding members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). His contributions to the PDP were pivotal, and he was elected to the Senate in 1999, securing re-election in 2003.

During his time in the Senate, Zwingina served on several key committees, including those on Works & Housing, Establishment, Internal Affairs, Information, Special Projects, Privatization, and Economic Affairs. His legislative contributions left an indelible mark on Nigeria’s governance and development.
