The directive comes in the wake of a recent incident where a private jet crash-landed near the Ibadan airport after departing from the Federal Capital Territory. The National Safety Investigation Bureau criticized the operator, Flints Aero Services Limited, for conducting a non-commercial flight with a permit.

Najomo underscored the regulatory framework, specifying that only entities holding an Air Transport License and airline operating permit with a valid air operator certificate are authorized to engage in charter operations. The NCAA DG outlined plans to intensify monitoring efforts to discourage private jets from operating as commercial aircraft.

Furthermore, Najomo emphasized the commitment of the NCAA to conduct sting operations aimed at enforcing compliance and compelling operators without an Air Operator Certificate to cease their operations. The agency is also dedicated to streamlining certification and licensing procedures to facilitate smoother business operations.

In a separate development, Nigerian musician and entrepreneur, Mr Eazi, clarified misconceptions surrounding his father-in-law, Femi Otedola, and the ownership of a private jet. Contrary to popular belief, Mr Eazi revealed in a conversation with Naija FM that his father-in-law does not own a private jet. He further explained that he usually opts for commercial flights, reserving private jets for special occasions or significant performances.

Addressing questions about his private wedding with Temi Otedola, Mr Eazi debunked the notion of secrecy, pointing to evidence in the video for his track ‘Legalise,’ which showcased moments from the ceremony.
