A senior party leader and the National Publicity Secretary of the Tanimu Turaki-led National Working Committee, Ini Ememobong, confirmed the planned meeting in an interview with Punch Newspapers, noting that the reconciliation panel would deliberate on key issues affecting the party.

Similarly, the National Secretary of the Wike-backed National Caretaker Committee, Samuel Anyanwu, expressed optimism that the party would soon overcome its internal disputes.

According to a source close to Bala Mohammed, the governor—who had earlier opposed reconciliation efforts with Wike’s faction—has now shown willingness to support the process.

The source disclosed that representatives from both sides, including legal advisers, had already held an initial meeting on Friday to identify the key issues requiring resolution.

During the meeting, it was agreed that members of the committee would return to their respective camps to consult with stakeholders and compile a list of concerns and conditions considered realistic and workable.

Each representative is expected to present these conditions at the next meeting so the committee can review them and attempt to harmonise the positions of both factions.

Another source told the publication that no final decision has yet been reached on whether the crisis would be resolved through a national convention or the establishment of an interim caretaker committee.

The source explained that while some party stakeholders favour holding a convention, others are advocating the formation of a caretaker committee to manage the party’s affairs temporarily.

Both camps are expected to reconvene on Monday to review the submitted conditions and work toward reaching a common ground aimed at resolving the crisis within the party.

It is expected that the outcome of the meeting could provide clearer direction on the party’s leadership structure and the next steps toward restoring unity within the PDP.
