Impossible!’ – PDP Chieftain Issa Slams Idea Of Working With Tinubu

The North Central Zonal Legal Adviser of the Peoples Democratic Party, Abubakar Issa, has criticised ongoing efforts by some party leaders to reconcile with the faction associated with Nyesom Wike.

Speaking in an interview with Punch Newspapers, Issa questioned the rationale behind the proposed reconciliation, particularly initiatives reportedly driven by allies of Seyi Makinde to engage Wike and his supporters amid the party’s lingering internal crisis.

Issa argued that it is difficult to justify negotiations with Wike, noting that the former Rivers State governor openly supported the presidential candidate of another party during the last general election.

He described Wike’s support for Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a betrayal of the PDP, insisting that the party cannot accept a situation where its members would effectively work for the president in future elections.

According to him, any reconciliation effort that fails to address this issue directly could weaken the party’s internal discipline and damage its credibility.

Issa questioned the terms on which such a settlement would be reached, arguing that a member of the party should not openly campaign for the candidate of a rival political party.

He added that allowing such actions without consequences could set a troubling precedent within the party.

The PDP chieftain said the party would soon make its official position known but expressed confidence that many members would oppose any arrangement that appears to align the PDP with the ruling All Progressives Congress.

He stressed that, in his view, it would be impossible for the PDP to support or work for the APC in future elections.
