During an interactive session with stakeholders in Port Harcourt on Friday, Fubara disclosed the cancellation, expressing concern over the compromised nature of the initial recruitment process. He highlighted issues of political patronage and over-aged candidates, stressing the need for a more transparent and merit-based approach to employment.

Addressing the audience, the governor emphasized the importance of future-oriented employment strategies, questioning the rationale behind hiring individuals close to retirement age for civil service positions.

Meanwhile, Fubara reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to upholding the social contract with the people of Rivers State, emphasizing the need for effective governance and service delivery. He urged service providers, particularly the Rivers State Waste Management Agency, to intensify efforts in clearing refuse and maintaining a clean environment across Port Harcourt and its environs.

Represented by the Head of Rivers State Civil Service, Dr. George Nwaeke, the governor commended the dedication of waste management service providers and stressed the significance of a clean and hygienic environment in promoting public health and well-being
