Fresh Twist: Alleged PFIPC DG To Face Reps Investigators At Secret Location

The House of Representatives ad hoc committee investigating the activities of the alleged Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC) says it will question the organisation’s purported Director-General, Adeniyi Adeyemi, at an undisclosed date and location.

Chairman of the committee, Yusuf Gagdi, made the announcement during Tuesday’s public hearing, explaining that Adeyemi remains in the custody of the Nigerian Police under a valid court order, making it impossible for lawmakers to compel his appearance before the panel.

Gagdi stressed that the National Assembly would not interfere with the powers of the judiciary or the executive by seeking to override an existing court order. He noted that while the committee is determined to hear from Adeyemi, the engagement would take place privately and in line with legal procedures.

According to him, the date and venue of the meeting will remain confidential because the matter is also under investigation by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and other relevant agencies.

He added that the interaction would be officially documented, conducted in the presence of Adeyemi’s legal representatives, and with the knowledge of the Nigerian Police.

During the hearing, the Managing Director of Divine Dopacy Nigeria Limited, Gbenga Collins, alleged that he paid ₦400 million to Adeyemi after being promised a contract to renovate and furnish what was presented as the official residence of the PFIPC Director-General. The allegation has not been proven in court.

Gagdi said the committee would continue its public hearings on Thursday before concluding its investigation and submitting a final report to the House of Representatives after lawmakers resume plenary.
