Fresh Twist In Delta As Commissioner, Four Others Arrested Over Deputy Director’s D**th

The Delta State Police Command has arrested the Commissioner for Secondary Education, Dr Kingsley Ashibogwu, and four other individuals as part of an ongoing investigation into the death of Unity Ekpevbughe Adeda, a Deputy Director in the state Ministry of Secondary Education.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the police also declared the Director of Basic and Secondary Education, Mrs Clemetine Ufuoma, and the commissioner’s driver, Clement Apia, wanted in connection with the investigation and have commenced efforts to locate them.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, disclosed the development in a statement on Monday, explaining that the latest arrests had increased the number of people currently in police custody over the matter to five.

Edafe said the arrests were made as investigators continued efforts to establish the circumstances surrounding Adeda’s death. He noted that the commissioner and the other suspects were taken into custody in connection with the case.

The police also appealed to Ufuoma and Apia to report to the command without delay to assist investigators with information considered relevant to the ongoing probe.

The Commissioner of Police in Delta State, Samuel E. Erale, assured the deceased’s family and members of the public that the investigation would be conducted professionally, impartially and in accordance with the law.

The police have not disclosed further details about the circumstances surrounding Adeda’s death or specified any charges against those currently in custody. The investigation remains ongoing, and the arrests do not in themselves establish criminal liability.
