The cleric had been instructed to report to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, by 10:00 a.m. to meet with the Deputy Commissioner of Police overseeing the department.
In a statement released on Sunday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, had ordered a comprehensive investigation into the allegations against Okafor.
Police sources said the invitation followed several petitions involving alleged sexual misconduct and actions likely to breach public peace. The command noted that protective measures had been put in place for the complainants and urged them to report to the SCID, where investigations have already commenced. It also assured that the identities of all victims and witnesses would be safeguarded.
However, a senior officer at the SCID, who spoke anonymously, confirmed that the pastor failed to honour the summons.
“Following the Commissioner’s directive on Sunday, the Deputy Commissioner instructed the relevant unit to prepare for his briefing, but he never showed up. It is already evening, and it is clear he won’t be coming today,” the officer said.
Another police source revealed that representatives allegedly contacted the command on Okafor’s behalf to seek additional time.
“Some people called to appeal for more time, assuring the authorities that he would still present himself. That is all the information available for now,” the source disclosed.
It was also gathered that none of the alleged victims or witnesses reported to the SCID on Monday to give statements or identify themselves.
“None of the complainants or witnesses turned up at the SCID for interrogation,” another source confirmed.
Attempts to reach the police spokesperson on Monday proved unsuccessful, as calls and messages sent to Adebisi were unanswered as of the time of filing this report.
The controversy erupted in mid-December 2025 after several allegations against the pastor surfaced on social media and gained widespread attention.
Among the accusers is Nollywood actress Doris Ogala, who alleged in a series of Instagram videos posted on December 14, 2025, that she had a prolonged sexual relationship with Okafor beginning in 2017. She accused him of reneging on marriage promises, sharing explicit materials and contributing to the breakdown of her previous marriage.
In response to the growing backlash, Okafor was reported to have addressed his congregation on New Year’s Day, publicly apologised for past “errors” and knelt at the altar to seek forgiveness.
The unfolding scandal has reportedly prompted the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria to consider disciplinary measures, while the pastor is said to have stepped aside from ministerial duties as investigations and public scrutiny continue.
