The controversy erupted after a video of him attending a church service in a white outfit went viral online. The footage sparked questions among some members of the Muslim community about his faith, with a few even calling for him to change his name.

The post quickly generated mixed reactions from fans and critics across social media.

On Sunday, January 4, Jamiu addressed the situation on his social media accounts, sharing screenshots of messages and comments he had received to highlight the intensity of public reactions.

He emphasized that his personal choices should not be subjected to public scrutiny, stressing that he had never officially announced any change in religion.

Jamiu stated that his faith is a private matter and should not be judged, even joking that he could wear traditional spiritual attire if he wished.

Writing on his Instagram story, he said: “It’s only in Nigeria that people get so bothered about someone else’s life. Imagine telling a man in his 40s how to live. I posted myself in a white garment on crossover night, and the comments I’ve been reading on blogs, especially Facebook, are crazy. Some even slid into my DMs to drag me… I can choose to practise any religion, and that should not be anyone’s problem. I never even came out to say I have converted.”
