The 26-year-old, who has been patient in waiting for opportunities, showcased intent, resilience, and confidence, earning the Man of the Match award in Fulham’s 2-1 victory.
Chukwueze set the tone early, delivering a clever pass to Kenny Tete inside the fourth minute that led to Fulham’s opening goal—a moment that calmed nerves and energized the team, especially from a player who had only started his first league match for Marco Silva a week earlier.
He came close to opening his scoring account for the club, striking the woodwork in the tenth minute and later missing a clear chance.
Reflecting on his display in a post-match interview with Sky Sports, Chukwueze admitted he didn’t expect the attention but focused on giving his best.
“I wasn’t expecting it today, but I concentrated on doing the hard work,” he said.
“The past few months have been tough, but I kept my head down and worked hard, and I seized the opportunity today. Training pushes me a lot and keeps me motivated. We’re proud of this result. Everyone gave everything on the pitch—we had to defend with our lives. This win is very, very important.”
Currently on loan from AC Milan, with Fulham holding an option to buy for around €25 million, Chukwueze now seems determined to cement a long-term future in West London.
Fulham will next face Manchester City on Tuesday.
