From Love Lessons To Luxury: Tiwa Savage Opens Up On Dating ‘Down’ And Her New Standards

Nigerian music star Tiwa Savage has reflected on mistakes she made in her past relationships, admitting that she often dated men who were not as financially secure as she is.

The singer, who married her former manager, Tunji Balogun (popularly known as Teebillz), in 2013 before their marriage ended in 2018, said she is now determined to change her approach to love by prioritizing partners who are wealthy.

In an interview with Zeze Mills, the Koroba hitmaker explained that financial stability has now become a key factor in her choice of a romantic partner.

“I used to make the mistake of dating down, telling myself I didn’t care if you weren’t making money, as long as there was love. But now, I think I need someone who already has money. Love is nice, but you can judge me if you want—I just want someone wealthier,” she said.

Savage added that she wants to experience what it’s like to date a wealthy man, saying she has already spent many years trying it the other way around.
