Identifying herself as a native of Ilaro in the Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun State and a former student of Ilaro Polytechnic, Ajibade recounted the incident. She explained that the unfortunate event occurred while she was commuting from school to her hostel on a motorcycle. A car collided with the bike, resulting in severe damage to her leg. Despite efforts to seek help, including consulting a traditional healer, the condition of her leg continued to deteriorate.

Faced with worsening circumstances, Ajibade and her family sought assistance at the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Igbobi, in Lagos State. It was there, during a night visit, that she received the devastating news that her leg would need to be amputated. Although initially disheartened, Ajibade eventually accepted her fate, finding solace in the belief that the surgery would provide her with a new lease on life.

Recounting the aftermath of the incident, Ajibade expressed her distress, stating, “I called the man that hit me and informed him of the development. I only want him to say sorry for what he made me go through.” Despite his initial efforts to contribute to her medical bills, the man disappeared upon learning about the impending amputation. The influencer admitted grappling with suicidal thoughts when confronted with old pictures showcasing her previous two-legged self.

Struggling with depression, Ajibade reached out to others for support and donations to cover her considerable medical expenses. However, she faced the additional heartbreak of being abandoned by people she trusted and loved due to her altered condition. Her boyfriend left her immediately after learning about the amputation, and even friends distanced themselves. Despite the challenges, Ajibade maintained an understanding perspective on their reactions.

This courageous influencer’s story sheds light on the physical and emotional toll of a life-changing event, emphasizing the importance of resilience and support in the face of adversity.
