From Politics To Nollywood: Desmond Elliot Spotted On Movie Set After APC Setback

Lagos State lawmaker and Nollywood actor Desmond Elliot appears to be making a return to the movie industry after losing the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for his legislative seat.

Photos that recently surfaced online captured Elliot on a film set alongside fellow actor Ibrahim Chatta. The pair were seen in conversation during what appeared to be the production of a new movie.

The images have excited many fans, with several expressing delight at seeing the actor back on set after dedicating years to public service and politics.

Elliot recently lost the APC ticket to contest the Surulere Constituency I seat in the 2027 general election. The three-term legislator was defeated in the party’s primary by Barakat Odunuga-Bakare, who emerged victorious by a comfortable margin.

A video from the movie location has also gone viral, generating anticipation among movie lovers eager to watch Elliot return to the screen.

Meanwhile, the actor-turned-politician has reiterated his reluctance to switch political allegiance, arguing that changing parties does not necessarily guarantee better leadership for Nigeria.

Speaking during an appearance on The Morayo Show, Elliot questioned the value of moving from one political camp to another in search of change.

He said he does not see himself abandoning President Bola Tinubu in support of Peter Obi, the 2027 presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

According to Elliot, leadership is only temporary and should be driven by humility and service, adding that many politicians lose sight of the fact that political power is fleeting.

Reflecting on his years representing Surulere, he maintained that his tenure produced tangible improvements, particularly in electricity and healthcare.

“I’m not sure. I ask myself, if I leave Asiwaju and I go to Obi, what is the difference between Asiwaju and Obi? If I leave Obi and I go to Atiku, what is the difference?

“My own kind of politician, I don’t steal money. If you look at Surulere 10 years ago, it was a horrible place to live in, but now there’s electricity, healthcare and all,” he said.
