The meeting, which took place at Wike’s residence in Abuja, was aimed at de-escalating tensions that had culminated in President Bola Tinubu declaring a state of emergency in the state.

According to Premium Times, Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State and former Ogun governor Olusegun Osoba accompanied Fubara to the peace meeting, which reportedly began on Friday, April 18, and extended into the early hours of Saturday, April 19.

Eyewitnesses revealed that Fubara displayed dramatic humility by prostrating before Wike, clutching his legs and repeatedly addressing him as “my oga.”

Sources also disclosed that during the talks, Fubara was instructed to return to Rivers State and gather his allies, especially elder statesmen, to clarify the true nature of his rift with Wike.

While no official statement has been released regarding the meeting’s outcome, Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant to the FCT Minister on Public Communication and New Media, confirmed that the meeting took place, though he could not provide details of the discussion.

When contacted, Fubara’s spokesperson, Nelson Chukwudi, declined to comment and directed inquiries to the Commissioner for Information, Joseph Johnson, who did not respond to calls.
