In a statement issued on Thursday, PETROAN spokesperson Joseph Obele highlighted that the price cut would provide significant relief for car owners and help alleviate the hardship faced by Nigerians.
“This reduction, which drops the price by N71 per litre from the previous N970, comes as a welcome relief for motorists and Nigerians, especially during the holiday season,” Obele stated.
PETROAN President, Billy Gillis-Harry, further emphasized that Dangote Refinery’s move would lower the cost of living and ease transportation expenses for Nigerians.
“The price reduction will ease the suffering of Nigerians and reduce the cost of living and transportation, particularly during the festive period,” he added.
The response followed Dangote Petroleum Refinery’s announcement of a price cut for its Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), reducing it to ₦899.50 per litre. The announcement, made in a statement on Thursday morning, underlined the company’s commitment to alleviating the financial burden on citizens during the holiday season.
Dangote Refinery spokesperson, Anthony Chiejina, explained that the price reduction is aimed at lowering transport costs during the festive season. Additionally, the refinery is offering consumers the opportunity to purchase an extra litre of fuel on credit for every litre bought on a cash basis.
