Fulani Herdsman Impresses With Fluent English, Suggests Solutions To Farmer-Herder Conflict (Watch Video)

A Fulani herdsman has gone viral after addressing the ongoing farmer-herder crisis that has claimed numerous lives. The herdsman, who identifies himself as Ibrahim, expressed his understanding of the farmers’ plight when cattle invade their farms and destroy crops.

He empathized, saying he feels deep pain when anyone harms his cows. Acknowledging that many herders allow their cattle to wander into farms and cause destruction, Ibrahim insisted that violence is not the answer. He pointed out that retaliatory actions by farmers often escalate the situation.

Ibrahim advised farmers to report offending herders to authorities instead of resorting to violence. He also urged his fellow herdsmen to compensate farmers for any damage their cattle might cause.

“Please believe me, not all Fulanis allow their cows to spoil others’ farms. I know there are bad ones among us who do, and it’s very bad. I understand your pain because, apart from farming, you don’t have any other business. Like us Fulanis, apart from following cows, we don’t have any other business,” he said.

He further advised, “If you catch a Fulani man destroying your farm, please, don’t beat him. Just arrest him.”

Ibrahim shared his practice of apologizing and compensating farmers whenever his cows destroy their crops, noting that some farmers forgive while others request payment, which he provides.
