Gani Adams Takes Legal Action Against Sunday Igboho For N5bn Over Privacy Breach

Adams accuses Igboho of unlawfully recording and distributing a private phone conversation between him and another party without consent, a move he claims has significantly damaged his reputation.

In case number M/1006/2024, Adams is seeking to enforce his fundamental rights under Section 37 of Nigeria’s 1999 Constitution, which protects the right to privacy. He describes Igboho’s actions as “unlawful, illegal, and unconstitutional,” labeling them as “reckless and injurious” to his standing as Aare Ona Kakanfo.

Adams asserts that the recorded conversation was made public on social media in April 2024, causing him “serious embarrassment.” He is pursuing exemplary damages to remedy the harm inflicted on his privacy rights.
