Ghana Police Arrest 47-Year-Old Woman, Launch Manhunt For Suspected Double Murderer
The Ghana Police Service has arrested a 47-year-old woman, Beatrice Mumuni, in connection with the alleged murder of two family members at NTHC Estate, Sakumono, while declaring the principal suspect, Samuel Christopher Osei Anto, wanted.
The victims, identified as 57-year-old George Atuguba and his 47-year-old niece, Irene Atuguba, were reportedly killed at their residence on Friday, October 30, 2026.
According to information released by the police, preliminary investigations suggest that the incident may have been triggered by a financial disagreement involving George Atuguba and Osei Anto, who allegedly lent him GH¢500,000, which had not been repaid.
Investigators disclosed that Osei Anto visited the victims’ residence on the morning of the incident, accompanied by Mumuni, to demand repayment of the money. However, a disagreement reportedly broke out during the confrontation, allegedly leading Osei Anto to shoot George and Irene, who was a mother of two boys.
The two victims were subsequently rushed to a hospital, where medical personnel confirmed their deaths. Their remains have been deposited at the Police Hospital Mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
In an update on the investigation, the police said Mumuni is suspected of having led Osei Anto to the victims’ residence before the killings. She has since been arrested as investigations continue.
Meanwhile, the police have declared Osei Anto wanted and announced a GH¢100,000 reward for anyone who provides credible information that could lead to his arrest.
Members of the public with useful information about his whereabouts have been urged to report to the nearest police station or contact the Ghana Police Service through its emergency lines.
The police have assured residents that efforts are ongoing to locate and apprehend the fleeing suspect so he can face justice.
