The Archbishop made this statement during the 22nd Annual Thanksgiving Service of the Lagos House of Assembly. He highlighted the importance of religious tolerance in the political landscape, pointing out that the governance of Lagos has alternated between Christian leaders for over a decade. He urged that it was now time for a Muslim to take the helm, referencing the previous Muslim governors, Bola Tinubu and Babatunde Fashola, who served from 1999 to 2015.
The call comes ahead of Governor Sanwo-Olu’s term completion in 2027, marking the end of a 12-year stretch of Christian leadership in the state.
