Go After Obaseki Now! – Oshiomhole Fires Warning Shot To Gov. Okpebholo After Supreme Court Ruling
Edo North Senator, Adams Oshiomhole, has called on Governor Monday Okpebholo to investigate the former Edo State administration led by Godwin Obaseki. His remarks came in response to the recent Supreme Court ruling affirming Okpebholo’s election as governor.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Speaking at a victory celebration on Thursday, Oshiomhole said the legal hurdle is now over and it’s time for Okpebholo to probe several actions taken by the Obaseki-led government—particularly the controversial Radisson Hotel Project.
He raised concerns over the ownership structure of the hotel, which reportedly saw Edo State invest billions of naira only to become a minority shareholder.
“Now that the coast is clear, it’s time to examine how state funds—running into tens of billions—were used in that hotel project. We’re told Edo is now a minority stakeholder. You have to investigate that,” Oshiomhole said.
The hotel project, initiated under Obaseki’s tenure, has drawn criticism for allegedly ceding 80% ownership to a private firm despite heavy state investment. The senator emphasized the need for transparency and accountability moving forward.
Oshiomhole also issued a challenge to Obaseki, urging him to return to Edo State and “test his popularity” by walking the streets of Benin alongside him and other leaders.
“Let’s see who truly impacted the people’s lives. We’ve come to rescue Edo, and part of that rescue mission is to investigate the past,” he said.
He concluded by commending Governor Okpebholo for bringing unity to the state, praying for strength and wisdom for his administration.
“God doesn’t give you a burden too heavy for your neck. You’ve united people from all local governments in minutes—that shows leadership beyond infrastructure. For a state like ours, unity is everything,” Oshiomhole added.
