The nation was caught aback as rumours spread like wildfire, accusing Emefiele of being one of the notorious people from the previous administration, sparking significant hatred towards the ruling party, APC, and even channelling their fury towards President Tinubu.

Emefiele’s alleged misdeeds didn’t stop at his failure to secure the APC presidential ticket. Whispers circulated that he had become a pawn for Okowa, the former Governor of Delta State, and Atiku Abubakar, the then PDP presidential candidate.

It appeared as though Emefiele had willingly thrown himself into the arms of the opposition in order to weaken the APC and ruin Bola Tinubu’s popularity.With resentment sweeping the nation, Nigeria descended into anarchy.
