Gov Lawal Witnesses Arrest Of Gunrunner On The Run, Thanks DSS For Swift Action
The Department of State Services (DSS) has successfully apprehended a suspected gunrunner who had been fleeing from Niger Republic to Zamfara State.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The suspect was arrested during an operation carried out by the DSS in collaboration with troops from the 1 Brigade of the Joint Task Force Operation Hadarin Daji, following intelligence on arms dealers operating from the Niger Republic.
After his arrest, the suspect was presented to Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, at the Government House in Gusau on Tuesday evening.
Governor Lawal praised the DSS and other security agencies for their commitment and professionalism in tracking and capturing the suspect. He also acknowledged the vital role of public cooperation in the fight against crime.
The governor revealed that the suspect had been closely monitored and tracked from the Niger Republic to Zamfara State.
Recovered from him were two PKT machine guns, nine AK-47 rifles, 13 magazines, 171 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and nine rounds of PKT ammunition.
Additionally, the Nigerian Military, in their search for notorious bandit leader Bello Turji, uncovered a cache of firearms in Zamfara State. The firearms were intercepted by the troops of 1 Brigade of the Joint Task Force Operation Fansan Yamma, in cooperation with DSS operatives, in the Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara.
