Naija News notes that Kwankwaso, a former defense minister and senator, served two terms as Kano State governor and played a key role in Yusuf’s election. It is often suggested that Kwankwaso continues to influence Yusuf’s administration since he assumed office in 2023.
The allegations, made by filmmaker and content creator Bello Galadanchi, claimed that all 44 Local Government Councils were instructed to each pay ₦10 million for drug supplies to a company named Novomed, owned by Musa Garba Kwankwaso.
In response, Governor Yusuf has dismissed the allegations and instructed the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) to conduct an investigation into the matter.
A statement issued by Commissioner of Information Baba Halilu Dantiye and Director General of Media and Publicity Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa confirmed that Yusuf has called for an immediate inquiry and urged the people of Kano State to remain patient until the investigation’s results are revealed.
