The Federal Government has announced that Wednesday, June 12 will be a public holiday to celebrate this year’s Democracy Day.

Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made this declaration in a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Aishetu Ndayako, on Tuesday, June 11. He encouraged Nigerians to uphold the principles of democratic governance.

In the statement, he said:

“As we commemorate another Democracy Day in the history of our beloved country, let us reflect on the efforts of our founding fathers and ensure that Nigeria remains a united, secure, peaceful, and indivisible entity.”

Tunji also urged Nigerians and friends of Nigeria to appreciate the progress made and to look forward to a brighter future for Nigeria’s democracy.
