Ogra made these comments on Monday via his X handle. He emphasized that President Tinubu is committed to addressing the economic difficulties faced by citizens and noted that these hardships are influenced by both global crises and domestic policies.

Ogra stated, “Every Nigerian has the constitutional right to peaceful assembly and freedom of expression. The Nigerian government is obligated to uphold these rights, including free movement, safety, and security. It is also a right for many Nigerians to opt out of protests, and this choice must be respected by all parties. Exercising one’s rights should not infringe upon the rights of others.”

He further warned that protest leaders must ensure they control the behavior of participants and clearly distance their platforms from any calls for violence or destruction. “If protest leaders allow their platforms to be used for mobilizing chaos or violence, they bear responsibility for the consequences,” Ogra said.

Ogra also highlighted President Tinubu’s efforts to address the country’s economic challenges. He noted that despite global economic shocks and local policy impacts, the administration is working hard to improve the situation. “President Tinubu has shown unprecedented willingness to revisit and revise policies,” he added.

He pointed out positive developments under the Tinubu administration, including a reduction in inflation, improved security, and various initiatives such as the student loans scheme and P-CNG Initiative, which are designed to ease financial pressures and reduce transportation costs. Additionally, the government has cut taxes and exempted key food imports from levies.

Ogra concluded that the administration remains focused on stabilizing the economy and ensuring a secure future for all Nigerians.
