Government Urges Aviation Unions To Call Off Planned Strike

In a statement released on Friday, August 16, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, appealed to the unions, assuring them that President Bola Tinubu is concerned about their welfare and the overall improvement of the aviation sector.

Keyamo emphasized that Tinubu is committed to finding a balanced solution that addresses both the fiscal needs of the government and the operational requirements of aviation agencies. He called for calm and urged workers to maintain industrial peace while the government works to resolve the issue amicably.

“The Ministry appreciates the patience and understanding of all aviation workers and remains committed to creating a conducive work environment,” the statement added.

The Minister acknowledged the concerns raised by the unions, particularly regarding the impact of these deductions on investment, infrastructure maintenance, and overall operations.
