Adewuyi clarified that the released funds would be disbursed in two batches, with the first batch covering pensioners listed in October 2014. This includes addressing outstanding Basic, Rent, and Transport (BRT) allowances for March 2013. Additionally, funds would be allocated to pensioners with urgent medical needs or outstanding hospital bills from the gratuity.
The Permanent Secretary highlighted that the second batch of gratuity would be directed to pensioners listed for November 2014. The remaining pensioners from March and April 2013 would also receive attention, with the inclusion of Basic, Rent, and Transport (BRT) allowances.
Expressing gratitude, Adewuyi commended Governor Abiodun for his unwavering commitment to the well-being of senior citizens. He emphasized that this financial assistance would significantly impact the lives of pensioners. Adewuyi urged those still awaiting payment to be patient, assuring them that the current administration would attend to their needs in due course.
Over the past six months, the state government has disbursed approximately N1.7 billion to support senior citizens. This includes full payments spanning September to November 2014, BRT balances for January to May 2013, gratuity for retired judges, assistance for pensioners facing health challenges, and the gratuity of specific permanent secretaries.
Grateful beneficiaries expressed their thanks to God for allowing them to enjoy the fruits of their labor. They also appreciated Governor Abiodun for honoring his promises and offered prayers for his continued guidance and protection in leading the state.
