Emphasizing the need for complete cooperation with the legislature to expedite the budget processing within the Assembly’s schedule, Governor Adeleke urged all cabinet members to ensure successful budget hearings, stating, “We have a state to govern. We have a five-point agenda to deliver. There is no room for distractions.”
He further instructed cabinet members to provide the relevant house committees with all necessary information for vetting and approval of their proposals.
Expressing confidence in the legislature’s understanding of the fiscal and economic considerations behind the 2024 budgetary proposals, Governor Adeleke acknowledged the introduction of innovative ideas that might require new laws or amendments.
Governor Adeleke directed the speedy internal processes for executive bills from relevant Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
He specifically highlighted three crucial bills, including the Nigerian Startup Act, urging prompt submission to the Assembly.
According to him, the Nigerian Startup Act holds the key to boosting and diversifying the state’s economy. Additionally, he underscored the importance of the Osun electricity market bill.
