The road construction endeavor fulfills a campaign pledge made by Governor Lawal to revitalize urban infrastructure by constructing new roads and modernizing and maintaining existing ones.
The statement reads, “During the ceremony, Governor Lawal reiterated that the revitalization of urban areas stands as one of his administration’s paramount objectives. This initiative aims to tackle the historical lack of development experienced by cities and towns in Zamfara State since its establishment.”
“In the initial phase of the project, we will undertake the reconstruction and enhancement of 3.5 kilometers of urban roads within Gusau, the state capital, in addition to bolstering the drainage network,” the statement continues.
“The scope of construction encompasses the areas from Bello Barau Roundabout to Old Market Road, Bello Barau Roundabout to Central Police Station Road, Bello Barau Roundabout to Government House Road, and Kwanar Yan Keke to Emir’s Palace to Tankin Ruwa Road.”
“The Zamfara State Government is of the view that improved road accessibility and reliability can cultivate an environment conducive to attracting investments, boosting tourism, and empowering local businesses.”
Governor Lawal also encouraged the residents of Gusau town to remain patient during the construction phase, underscoring that genuine progress might entail temporary inconveniences, yet the ultimate outcomes will far surpass the challenges.
