During an Eid-El-Fitr Sallah visit from a delegation of Muslim leaders, including the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, at his private residence in Port Harcourt, Fubara encouraged the leaders and his supporters to trust in God’s plan. He noted that the Eid season, known for love, sharing, and sacrifice, symbolizes the current challenges.

Expressing gratitude for the support, Fubara said, “You have come to share in our pain and made a great sacrifice through your prayers. As Christians, we believe that everything happens for a purpose, and I strongly believe that this situation is leading us toward a greater purpose.”

Fubara acknowledged the political tension but reassured everyone that divine forces were at play beyond human understanding. He emphasized the importance of remaining steadfast and giving glory to God, believing that they would emerge stronger in the end.

The suspended governor reiterated his commitment to justice and equality, emphasizing a vision of a society without oppression. He expressed regret for not formally reaching out to the Muslim community during their celebrations but promised to strengthen relationships between religious groups and the government once the political uncertainty is resolved.

Fubara also addressed the issue of inciting violence and destabilization, cautioning against those seeking to create problems and disrupt livelihoods. He vowed to maintain peace and respect constitutional authority to ensure Rivers State remains a model for others.

Earlier, Alhaji Nasir Awhelebe Uhor, representing the Muslim community, expressed solidarity with Fubara, assuring him of their prayers and support. He noted that the governor’s inclusive approach to governance had earned him the support of the Muslim community.

Uhor also appealed to President Bola Tinubu to reconsider the emergency rule in Rivers State and restore Fubara’s full authority, citing the governor’s effective leadership despite the crisis.

During the visit, prayers were offered for Governor Fubara, his family, Rivers State, and Nigeria, with the Muslim leaders expressing hope for a peaceful resolution to the political crisis.
