Governor Makinde Approves Rule Of Law Enforcement Authority Bill In Oyo State

Governor Seyi Makinde has officially endorsed the Oyo State Rule of Law Enforcement Authority Bill, cementing it into law. During the signing event, Governor Makinde emphasized the pivotal role of collaboration between the government and Oyo State residents to realize their shared vision for the state.

Highlighting the bill’s significance, Makinde underscored its aim to address existing gaps in law enforcement, particularly concerning traffic management, environmental sanitation, and related matters.

He remarked, “I have just signed into law the bill passed by the House for the establishment of the Oyo State Rule of Law Enforcement Authority. We went through quite a bit with the House. They wanted to know why we need a special authority to enforce the rule of law in the state.”

Makinde further elucidated on the challenges faced in implementing various laws, such as those pertaining to anti-open grazing and traffic regulations. He stressed the need for effective enforcement to ensure public safety and uphold the state’s desired standards.

The governor also announced the appointment of Justice A.A. Aderemi as the chairperson of the authority responsible for overseeing its operations.

The signing ceremony, held at the governor’s office in Ibadan, was attended by notable dignitaries, including the deputy governor, Bayo Lawal, the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Olanike Adeyemo, the Head of Service, Mrs. Olubunmi Onio, and the Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Muhammed Abiodun Fadeyi.
